Stampin' Up! Card Ideas from Canadian Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Sandi MacIver

Builder Birdcage and Avant Garden

Sometimes it’s fun to combine two stamp sets to create a picture on your card, thus today’s share combining Builder Birdcage and Avant Garden.

I wanted to create a happy sunny place for the birds to be singing away to each other.  By applying the background flowers and leaves from the Sale-a-bration Avant Garden Stamp set, I easily achieved that.

I stamped two layouts in two colours to share with you today.

Sandi’s Tips & Tricks:

Builder Birdcage and Avant Garden – Card #1

  • The first combines the lovely flourish stand with the smaller birdcage combined with the elegant larger hanging cage and my little birds singing to each other.
  • Both are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • The Avant Garden background is stamped in Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron
  • I need a pile of birthday cards for March, so I used the sentiment from the Avant Garden stamp set for this one.
  • By adding a Basic Black Mat around my art piece, it pulls the images and the sentiment together into the picture.
  • I added some Whisper White Baker’s twine (doubled), across the top for texture.

Builder Birdcage and Avant Garden – Card 2

  • I reversed the colours for this one with the card base in Blushing Bride.
  • I like to use the same colour card stock and ink to help pull my art/card together.  Using co-coordinating Stampin’ Up! products allows me to do that with ease.
  • This time the little birdie is by himself, greeting you with the fun font sentiment.
  • I didn’t mat this art piece, instead I added some elements:
  • 1/2 of a Lace Doily tucked in behind the right side
  • some Gold 1/8″ ribbon down the left.
  • Check closely on the flowers of both, I added small white pearls to the center
  • and just a flash of bling with a single rhinestone at the top of the cage.

You can create either of these cards in 10 minutes or less.
